Edwards Moving & Rigging, Inc. debuted its new 500 Tonne capacity Faktor 5 High Girder Bridge transporter, “Miss Audrey”, in northern Virginia February 10th, 2016. As part of the delivery of steam turbine components for a power plant project, Edwards moved a 490,817 lb. Gas Turbine with a total gross vehicle weight of 1,592,981 lbs. along a 28 mile complex urban and rural route crossing 21 bridge structures at night. After months of planning and coordinating with local, county, and state authorities, Department of Transportation, as well as Department of Motor Vehicle representatives; the 439’ long, 21’4” wide, 16’4” tall transporter was successfully pulled by four of Edwards’ powerful Kenworth Prime Movers along the route to its destination.
Miss Audrey is the sixth Faktor 5 in the world and the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
