What You’ll Learn and Do
As an Apprentice Rigger, you will work alongside experienced field professionals while developing the skills needed to build a career in heavy haul and specialized rigging.
You will:
- Assist crews with moving oversized and over-dimensional loads.
- Learn how loads are safely rigged, supported, lifted, and moved.
- Help offload equipment and components from railcars, barges, transporters, and foundations.
- Learn to use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic equipment, and specialized rigging equipment.
- Assist with attaching and securing loads in preparation for lifting or movement.
- Learn proper signaling and communication techniques used during lifting and moving operations.
- Inspect rigging equipment and learn how to identify potential safety concerns.
- Gain experience operating equipment such as forklifts and skid steers as your skills and qualifications develop.
- Work as part of a crew where communication, teamwork, and attention to detail matter.
- Learn from experienced Riggers, Leadmen, Foremen, and Superintendents in the field.
This is hands-on work. You will be expected to climb, lift, walk, balance, stoop, handle materials, work around heavy equipment, and perform physical work as part of the crew.

Previous experience in heavy rigging, crane operations, construction, heavy trucking, or a related field is helpful, but the desire and ability to learn are equally important.
Additional job and customer-site requirements apply, including the ability to complete required safety training and meet applicable drug and alcohol testing requirements.
